The California Coastal Commission solicits public input on its revised Sea Level Rise Policy Guidance document, which is available here.
The revised Sea Level Rise Policy Guidance provides an overview of best available science on sea level rise for California and recommended steps for addressing sea level rise in Coastal Commission planning and regulatory decisions.
This revised draft includes updates on related efforts and state actions, and incorporates the feedback the Commission received during a 120-day public comment period following the release of the first draft Guidance in October 2013. A summary of responses to public comments can be found here.
Key revisions to the May 2015 Draft Public document include a section on use of scenario based analysis to approach sea level rise planning; a section on storms, extreme events, abrupt change, and sea level rise; a section on the interface of sea level rise adaptation planning and environmental justice; and a chapter on the legal context of adaptation planning.
This document will be presented at the June 10 Coastal Commission hearing in Newport Beach.
