Completed in 2015, Sacramento has adopted the Sacramento Region Transportation Climate Adaptation Plan, developed by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) and CivicSpark. The plan analyzes climate vulnerabilities in the region’s transportation network, and identifies key strategies and actions that local government can take to adapt transportation assets to potential climate-related hazards. The SACOG board unanimously adopted the plan, which will form the backbone of a full vulnerability assessment and adaptation plan, at an August 2015 meeting. The adaptation plan is intended to be a framework for future climate adaptation work on the region’s transportation investments, and will help inform the SACOG Board of Directors about potential impacts associated with climate-related events. CivicSpark will continue supporting the region’s transportation vulnerability assessment and planning efforts next year.
