Climate Action Planning in Emeryville

Emeryville will soon be launching its sustainability website with various resources for the public on climate change and environmental issues. CivicSpark fellow Hoi-Fei Mok is working in Emeryville to update the City's Climate Action Plan and implement measures related to building energy efficiency, alternative transportation, street trees, and electric vehicle charging stations. The plan references climate change adaptation measures as well, including modifications to water budgets, reducing solar panel permit costs, and the early adoption of a water-efficient sustainable landscape ordinance, which was recently implemented. These measures are significant steps that the city of Emeryville has taken to ensure that it can effectively mitigate the challenges posed by current and future climate change. The City will be wrapping up its participation in the program in March with a presentation of its Sustainability Action Plan for municipal operations.
