  1. Multipollutant legislation for the Electric Power Generation Industry: An update. Mathai, C V.
    EM: 2003
    Notes
Since President Bush announced his Clear Skies Initiative early last year, calling for large reductions in emissions of SO2, NOx, and Hg from the power generation sector, there has been renewed interest in advancing multipollutant legislation. With three comprehensive bills now making their way through Congress, and the fact that the President has identified multipollution legislation as a priority, a bill could become law by the end of the current session of Congress. This article compares the major provisions of the three multipollutant bills and assesses the prospects for legislative action in the near term. It also provides a forum for representatives from four stakeholder groups to offer their perspectives on the current legislative proposals.
